Zoe Artemis

HOWLFEST, 2004

At the C-Note Club on August 21, 2004
---Jack Kerouac was resurrected
------and we all
---------gathered together

A travelling church of
---ecstatic wanderers, hillbillies, minstrels,
------troubadors, witches, visionaries,
---------beats, bards,
-------------comrades in arms
---------------threw up our tent
------------------and we all gathered together

Jazz man, Zeus man, the Man
---David Amram
------blew the horn and howled
---------hey kids, let's all gather together

A wailing prophesy of
---talkin blues, bebop blues
------jazz blues, houndog blues,
---------city blues, mountain blues
------------inspector blues, injustice blues,
----------------war time blues, flat broke blues
-------------------toxic blues, heart-break blues,

Not Knowing blues

Inspired us to swivel round a sun moon alter(stage)
---to expose our rites, to expose our love, to expose our loss
------makin it public liberates us
---------stirring the cauldron unites us
------------evoking Jack focused us
---------------and we all gathered together

Repeating a mantra again and again
---creates harmony and peace
------community and hope
---------again and again and again
------------again and again and again.
