A misty day didn't stop a sell-out crowd from attending the Mets last game at
Shea Stadium,
their home for 44 years, on September 28th. In true Mets Fan fashion, Frank
Messina was there
for that final day on the Diamond in Flushing Meadows where New York Times'
Corey Kilgannon caught up with "The
Mets Poet".

The Mets melted down as September dwindled away along with their mid-month seven
game lead, The Mets were dealt the final blow on the last day of September, denying
them the opprtunity to stand in the October Sun on a play-off field.
