Mexico City D.F.
Oct 21 2004
Well not recommended every night but tonight tequila
and a little good mexican weed did the trick--show off the edge/perfection/crowd
wild and knew every word/blast off. The past. The future. The here and right now.
Mexico City today with indians dancing/shamen in the zocalo w frankinsense and
healing chanting stroking dancing/eagle-men flying overhead-volodores-cawing the
caw the black crow caws /the mexican revolution still playing out in diego's murals
at palacio national w conquistadores and communistas, school children and feathered
dieties. Mercado Ciudadela w stone skulls and needlepoint. Guitarron. Silvered
mirrors reflecting children everywhere running. Happy. Present. Aztec. Mayan.
Olmec. Soot and smog. Coyotes roaming the streets. New friends. Dream activation.
Directions to Burroughs house where he shot Joan in William Tell fiasco. Monterey
before Insurgentes i'm told. Cool fountain. The angel of independencia. Basquiat
roaming thru alameda park. Plush/fine he think. Diana w bow taut. The bleached
white-painted bones of the dead watching over everyone here--a comfort/a reality/a
celebration/a clarity/a certaint, well dealt.
AM
DES (Hello from the American Desert)
Hello from the American
desert
It's all pitch black and charred out here
Birds barely able to
lift off
Sand dunes heavy, turbulent, nearly invisible
Guys kick up
old boots in black sandy fury
Turn up rotten tires and broken flashlights
The smell of alcohol is nowhere to be found
The sweet smell of sex neither
Black and blue a pack of 2 wheeled cycle riders
Pedaling for their lives
along the ridge
Race by in pursuit of who the fuck knows what
Cinder-brick
bldgs of former strip malls
Stand defeated, painted fascades fading
There's rusty barbed wire around the perimeter
And a ring around the moon
tonight
